My favorite is the PRR "Mountain View" observation car done by GGD.
Even though there is no connection that I know of,there was a restaurant, inn, and pool just east of Greensburg,PA on US Rt 30 that had the same name. It was a neat place giving a great view of our Laurel Mountains. It was a popular hangout for swimming during my early years. Nostalgia rules for me since this famous facility was torn down after many, many years of good food, family activities, and fun.

Vista Dome. My forum picture was taken in the Vista Dome of the Napa Valley Wine Train from our trip in 2010.

Right now, I'm liking the passenger cars for the Lionel Lincoln funeral train a lot. I've got about six I'm going to repaint and re-interior into period normal cars.
Here are a few from Grand Central Station last month.
For streamlined, Milwaukee Road's Skytop observation car. For heavyweights, any observation car with an open vestible
.Milwaukee Road "Lake Cities" Wood open vestibuled observation just beautifully restored..looks factory fresh. Donated to IRM. The craftsmanship is incredible.
I was fortunate to be at Dallas Union Station about 10 years ago and saw the well-known, and gorgeous, GM&O No. 50, which was having some finish-out work being done for then-owner Isaac Tigert, co-founder of the Hard Rock Cafe. The interior was gorgeous, finished out in Victorian splendor. If there was a car I could have, this one would be high on the list. Dig that large center-mounted rear red warning light.

My favorite for modeling...the dining car. It's fun to set each table with china, glasswear, and a vase of flowers. I'd like to show-off my hand painted figures in a dome car, but the PRR had none.
For "dreaming"...the open observation platform of a heavyweight. I picture myself on a NYC to Florida run, as the cold weather turns warmer by the hour.
So far, by a large margin, The observation car seems to be the favorite, whether it be the streamline version or the Heavyweights.
Scum Class is the only way to go!! Dual function observation car!!
From the BBC show Top Gear. Check it out sometime. Quite funny.
My favorite passenger car(s) are the Dome Cars / Full Dome Cars / Bi-Level cars. They are the models I like most and riding in them you feel like you're gliding above the scenery.
Brian, thanks for your input.
Mike, this BBC show is hilarious.
Gondola?
LOL, Funny, Tanks, RICK!!!
Great pictures guys. Brian thanks for getting us on this topic. Bill
Your welcome Bill. I have not seen this subject come up before on the Forum and it is very interesting to learn what most consider to be their favorite passenger car.
I was in a discussion recently when this question was asked. I did not have to think about an answer as I have always considered the observation car to be a favorite. The domed CZ version makes it even better. I also agree with those who posted the Sky Tops from the MW to be wonderful observation cars.
Thanks to all who graciously responded to this thread.
