Fire Ground Scenes on your Layout. Lets see!

My layout is too small for a MTH fire station. I made a "building on fire" from an Ameritowne front, 1 1/2" deep wood side walls, a "flicker flame" bulb, and a "HO" smoke unit.

Lets see some shots of it!

Older scene of a "House-a-Fire" from a dismantled layout that has not yet been incorporated into my current small attic layout. Hope to start on the Village side of the layout soon and find a spot for the fire scene. I have scale size hose lines that I need to use as replacements for those shown in the photo below.

 

Water from the tank in the house is recycled and piped under the layout to the Hydrant and through the midships panel of the Pumper and into the attack line,  through the window back into the tank.. The line to the Aerial Ladder deluge gun is blocked--not enough pressure for both lines.

That is such a cool idea. I applaud firefighters for their hard work and dedication, so I really like the idea of a fire scene on a layout. I don't know if I'll eventually have room, but this is an inspirational thread.

My thanks also to the firefighters in our communities.

 

Not to downplay the seriousness of a real fire scene, but, we did have the Saiftie Brothers Fireworks Factory fiasco on my layout. Too bad the contractor wasn't scheduled to install the fire escapes until a few days after the fire. But, luckily it's possible to have nothing but happy endings on own layout scenes.

Not sure that this was in your job description, but in a small town like Raccoon Creek, the fire department has to show up in many different kinds of emergencies!!

 

I am a member of the TCA Midwest Div Modular Group and retired Police Officer. 5 years ago I built a fire scene for the modular layout to also incorporate my job and enjoyment of the hobby. The house I used was a Model power model. For the smoke unit effect I used a spare MTH somke unit with a flicker light bulb. I used white coated wire for the hoses with clear plastic rods for water. I used Corgi Chicago Fire and Police vehicles that I lighted. I enclosd a few photos and there is a youtube video under Milwaukee Trainfest 2009.        

Now that is super nice!!!!! Great job.

This is what I love about this forum and modeling trains.....all of the great ideas that you guys share here. As I build my second layout, it gives me great inspiration to add more than before.

Great examples everyone,looking at all the examples...I am adding a detail that I think is overlooked, at every fire there are piles of burned debris . usually under a window.  Just throwing it out there

 

@Greg  does your switch tower have any effects?  who is the manuf, of the figures?they look great

 

@RangeRick.  we go on all sorts of calls, but not much in the way of rock slides nice shot

 

@Kevin  that is a great display, I want to add lights someday, thanks for sharing, and you can join the group that DoubleDaz and I are in, jobs that politicians love to attack!

 

@Dusty  That is a unique idea, I have fought my share of brush fires  ( usually set by punk kids who watch you as you work)  and that is spot on, too bad they don't make 1/48 scale indian tanks.
