I'm doing another upgrade. This time it's a 3rd Rail Allegheny. Everythings working but the speed is a little fast. It's a huge improvement over the TMCC board. When I lashup the engine it seems to be pulling away.

The flywheel measures around 35mm. I used the largest tape marked for 33.7mm. It was running a little fast so I added two stripes with a sharpee and it seems better.

So, does adding stripes slow the engine down? I'm thinking it does. This is the second engine in a row without the correct tape. The USA trains SD70mac has a smaller flywheel than the tape provided for. Maybe we could make and keep a list of flywheel diameters and number of stripes needed? I have Dave H's chart for calculating them. Trouble is I'm not sure what to compare the SD70Mac G scale to? Would the calculations work between scales?

Are there more size tapes available or should I just custom make them? Thanks for more help, Joe
