Thank you all for making last week's York TCA Train Meet the most enjoyable one yet for me! On Thursday and Friday I barely had a breather and lots of good ideas were exchanged. We had the first ten of the D.F. Stauffer Biscuit Co. shadowboxes picked up from preorders and six more ordered. Three more of the building version were committed to. Then there were a couple of special requests that will lead us to produce some variations on the original theme:

1. The shadowbox version will also be produced as a two-piece set. The original design already had an interior double wall at the natural break point to accept different floor and ceiling heights from their respective sides. This variation comes almost naturally and will be offered for no additional cost to the original one-piece design.

2. The right side of the overall building will be offered without the door in the middle of the elevation. Instead, two windows will be in its place. This variation also comes naturally and will be offered on an order basis only.

3. The right side of the overall building will be offered in taller versions. Several folks commented on its classic design and applicability as a typical banking building. We will also consider making it into a 6" deep building.  If you are interested in these variations, please comment on how many floors you would like to see. If it is to be a building, would you prefer to to put in mid-block, at a left or right end of a block, or stand-alone.

You may order your original D.F. Stauffer Biscuit Co. shadowbox or 6" deep building from the website. Please call the shop directly if you would like to one of the variations.

Doug;

Glad to hear you enjoyed York... next October, I’ll be there with two good knees!!!

Regarding you comments on the Stauffer building, I like the current height - the nature of my space really makes taller buildings somewhat problematic, but it’s great that you can adapt your models so easily.

Again, it’s great that you can adapt your models, but I don’t think that replacing the door on the right would be a good idea... that would leave the sole entrance on the front of the building the “garage doors” on the left which seems weird. And, if you replace the right door with windows, won’t it look odd that you have that interesting “arch” around the space (or would you remove that as well???). P.S. love the “arch”.

Now the BIG question... what will the back and sides of the 6” building look like??? My opinion... while I have no problem with the sides being all brick (I am planning on using mine as a free standing building), I think that the back should have some windows, but not necessarily the same number as the front. As we discussed about not lighting all windows on all floors, I think a window or two on each floor would be nice.

Thanks.
