We were looking for a scale merry go round for our layout kids park. Kemps scale furniture has some 1:48 items that might be useful in your layout. Need a hangman scaffold? eek Be aware items are pricey (need right hand spiral staircase for $218?) but if you really need that piece to complete the scene, check this out.

Shapeways is a great source and some of the folks there will adjust sizes or make something for you that no one else has, like motel housekeeping carts. Tend to be a little pricey but you acn have a bunch of spectacular items. I'm going for wire grocery carts next.
