Hello all

December 1934 ,3 years before Lionel introduced their 700/763 NYC Hudson , American Model Engineers (Scale Craft ) brought out their O scale NYC Hudson .
At the height of depression with prices from $37.50-97.50 for kits and RTR $137.50 the Hudson was not a child's toy ...but for the serious modeler.
The Scale Craft Hudson had a sand cast bronze boiler and tender....sand castings have limitations for detail compared to die castings ...but much cheaper for low production numbers .
Some model builders just build the kit ... Others use the kit as a base to improve on. The builder of this model did a marvelous job fine detailing the boiler casting .. and added a thin sheet of brass on the cab and tender with full rivet detail.
Engine would have started life as outside 3rd rail ...but insulated drivers have been added at some point in the past 89 years .
The NYC Hudson a passenger show pony ...but could be pushed into hauling produce refers and mail during the early hours of the day .
