I have an NYC FT A-B-A set (20-20159-1). I noticed that when I change direction the class lights on rear A unit do not come on. The headlight does work. I further noticed that on start up the class light goes on for a moment, and that's it. The tethers are tight and the locomotive works great.
Before I begin exploratory surgery, does anyone have any idea what to look for?

Class Lights should be on all the time. Try a factory reset, might be a bad connector or contact via spring, though they do the flash thing at start up. Can you turn them on with the system? G
I would try a feature reset first... Menu/Advanced/ Reset engine/ Feature reset.....
There still are a few bugs around when it comes to the headlight smoke etc.
Thanks George and Gregg, factory reset fixed it. I should have know that - guess I'm getting old.
George, the problem I had with the GG1 pantograph remains. I have the old software but not the old loader. The new loader will not recognize the old software. The GG1 has been relegated to non-catenary territory until I finish the last piece of catenary.
