Hi All,

So my kids and I thought we'd try our hand at some "picking" like on the History channel. Well, I couldn't believe it when at the first garage sale my son said "look dad Lionel trains!".

We found this nice MPC DT&I NW-2 switcher set with a whole box ot track, transformer and even some Marx switches (which are perfect for running Grampa's trains). After some quick haggling we walked away with the box for $20 (Canadian so that's only $15.75 US right now Hahaha).

I know it's just an inexpensive MPC starter set, but seeing how excited my kids were at making a "find" at our first stop was priceless.

Now it will get a paint job and become the first rostered engine on the R&W RR (Rachel & William RR) which is the name of our layout.

Cheap thrills can be the best thrills; well done. ($15 US? If I didn't live 2000 miles from Canada I might be sneaking across the border occasionally to look around myself.)

Some of my exclusively 3RO-Scaley friends - I occasionally go rogue - don't understand my excitement when I find a Marx 3/16 car already converted to Lionel PW trucks - for 5 or 6 bucks at a show. Heck, the trucks are worth that, not that I want to mess up the car.

And the car's cute. They are my "industrial/short line" rolling stock, in my head.
