So while I wait MTH to release some engines in my road names of interest , I have picked up some SHS loco with Hi-rail wheels.  They did not come with the spare scale wheelsets included.

Looking to see if I can get scale wheels.  I can scour the shows and the "bay" or place a wanted ad here.

Wondering if there might be another source(s).  Have a F3 AB set and now a SW9 in need of em!

I may be all wet here but did not S Helper and American models have some locomotive parts in common? I have an RS-3, it is in an American Models box with an S Helper sticker on the end of the box. If this does work out you need to specify which of three different style bearings are on the axles.

Crossing my fingers for you.

There are no interchangeable parts between SHS and AM.

The label is from when S-Helper Service was a true "helper service" and not a manufacturer.  SHS helped with the financing of the American Models RS3, FA2, GP35, 4-6-2, GG1 and heavyweight passenger cars.

SHS also acted as a dealer.  Items marked with an SHS label are American Models products with roadnames made exclusively for SHS.

Thanks Rayin"S" and Rusty for clarifying this.  Thinking MTH wheelsets are not inter-changeable.  Otherwise I would try to order "repair/replacement" parts.  Didn't order from 1st round of F3's (ordered, cancelled, ordered again, cancelled after going on 4 yrs.).

SHS F3's that I purchased used did not come with original boxes with scale wheels.

C&O SW-9 ( which I have always loved from my Lionel postwar days) did not include scale wheelsets for engine.  For some reason I thought all sets did. "the bay" seller noted no scale wheels and when it arrived there were no slots in box for them.  Still glad I bought it  - beautiful stuff.

FWIIW, if MTH announces NYC passenger (lighter grey) and Western Pacific F3's in the next catalog (what's up with no future anouncements on engines/rolling stock) - then I am in and will give Mike Wolf my hard earned $$$.

It's odd the box didn't have a location for scale wheels.  The C&O's were part of the first run of SW's and my first run SW's had scale wheels included.

Here's a locomotive wheelset comparison for AM, SHS and MTH.  These are HiRail, but the bearings and gears are the same on Scale:

If I was a conspiracy kinda guy, I'd say MTH changed bearings so they wouldn't be able to supply wheelsets for old SHS stock.
