Have you tried this on a separate test track with just the TIU connected? Loading the sound file requires a really good signal, that may be the only issue.
Why the bold large font? I appreciate your thinking of those of us over 40 but most all forumites can read the normal font with our glasses on.
What is the error code? If the TIU can't communicate with the Board to load it may be a address issue.
Does this board load into DCS and function with the Remote on the layout? If not, try a recover engine to get address back in range and do a factory reset. Then try to reload sound file. G
I don't know what error code i was going to buy the boards if you can fix them, there is no sound and has the sound file loading errors, the board he has work fine othwise. was wondering if the boards would be worth fixing?
Alan
Hung up on sector 4 during load process.
You didn't mention no sound before, so the board really doesn't "work fine", at least in my estimation.
I doubt anyone can tell you if the value of the boards without knowing exactly what condition they're in.
ok thanks all, ill see if i can find out what the error code was!

p.s.
Hung up on sector 4 during load process.!
I would stay clear. You can always find 3 V boards with no issue.
Alan, If it aborts a load during the process, and can not get past that sector that is not usually a user fix issue. Most likely a defective memory. MTH maybe able to force a load with a factory tool, but that is usually when the firmware is corrupt and it won't pass sector 0. I am with Marty. G
Thanks guys that's what i suspected was a memory problem, glad i did not choose to purchase the board.
I also suspected you might not even be able to replace the memory chip!
Thanks again guys!
Alan
P.S. have a nice weekend and enjoy your trains!
No way you'll get that memory chip on without more than a soldering iron!
Actually on is easy, it is off that is hard. Problem is finding it too. G
Blowtorch George!
Yes, but your trying to save the board so the blow torch usually damages the traces.
Or your trying to save the chip if your cannibalizing it as a good part.
I actually got a bad one off cleanly, though I could not find the chip to try to restore a board that had the same symptoms Alan has. I was going to see if I could do a brain transplant. G
