Going to build layout

Difficult to visualize it without a layout design posting. Can you post one we can see?

I have no way to post the layout designed by my friend. I do not RR track or anything like it. Sorry.

I read this and remembered that Windows years ago, included a program called Paint. I looked and it is still there under accessories. I had not used it in years, but in a few minutes, drew up this just to see if it would do something like Larry needs.

It is not sophisticated, but it does allow straight lines, and freehand drawing, along with color changes. (I am sure there is much more there, I did not take time to educate myself on the use of the program) but it will allow one to draw out a rough track plan/idea, save it as a .bmp, which can then be loaded on the site and you see here.

At first I drew the outer loop freehand. Then, used straight line selection to mark the straights for the inner and connected them with freehand "O-54 curves" or some curve anyway. Added the turnouts and spur in red as an after thought.

Larry, you might want to try this and then you can post some ideas of what you are doing. Then others can visualize your dream, and if so inclined, even edit your .bmp and post it back up.

Just a thought to see if things can be sped along. I do not think I will be offering any input on the track plans, but others may.

It sounds like you are describing something similar to my old layout, except mine was 10 x 12 with O-72 out-side loop and O-54 on the inside loop.  On my old layout it was tow tiered where four additional trains could be stored below on the O-54 loop.  It was a nice feature, but you would need to plan for it now.

That is somelike about what I am planning. Theat lower level loop looks neat.  Thanks for the Idea.
