Very Nice! That gold really brings out the details. Enjoy!
Rick
Wow that's pretty awesome. A lot cooler than I expected.
Wow very very nice, Lionel did a great job.
Enjoy it,
Alex
Looks good, the blue lettering stands off better with the camera flash than it did in York lights.
Enjoy it
That wouldn't be my first choice if I bought the engine (would've bought black) but that does look neat. Looks better than the York version.....
That thing is beautiful!!! I really like it!
Especially so for a Christmas themed layout.
Definitely looks much better than the version Lionel displayed at York. The lettering appears to be a darker blue which is much more pleasing to the eye on the gold background. The lighter blue lettering looked horrible at York. Possible it's the lighting, but my gut says Lionel may have adjusted the blue-on-gold for the production units.
Love the satin gold look... it's different than gold-plating in a pleasant way. Enjoy!!!
Did you purchase the gold coaches as well? They had the same blue/gold color issue at York, so perhaps Lionel corrected those as well.
David
Thanks David. I did order the gold coaches as well. If they turn out to be just as nice as the Berk I'm going to be ecstatic. The Gold Berk turned out even better than I had expected.
Emile
It reminds of me of a '69 El Dorado Coupe.
Any noticeable improvement to the sounds?
Thanks for the pictures. it does look better then it did at York. Good luck.
Oh yeah... the pronounced cow-catcher on the new PE Berk versions looks cool too.

Is there a video by chance?
I love it! Congratulations Emile I hope it brings you and all who get to see it much enjoyment.
Thank you for posting! Every photo is fantastic.
Looking Great Emile, can't wait to see the pictures of the matching cars. Once again - thanks for sharing.
all the best,
Paul
Very nice looking. How about a video!!!
Neat! I love the extended pilot - that makes it the PE Berk. It'll be neat to see it with the passenger cars.
I can't wait to receive the black version.
It is really beautiful, enjoy! I can imagine it rolling slowly under bubble lights!
Surprised by how nice it looks! That will certainly be eye catching on anyone's layout.
Congrats and Thanks for the pics!!
give me some context here; is the gold version in the movie or what?
not something i would buy, but it certainly looks interesting. the details really do pop out.
Beautiful engine, Emile. This will make a spectacular addition to your Christmas layout this year. Thanks for the excellent photos.
No Forrest, the Gold Edition is not part of the PE Movie or book. Just a part of Lionel's 10th Year celebration of the introduction of the movie.

It's called having fun and being whimsical, toys do that occasionally
Ok, just for fun-all aboard-this is the party express
That would look good pulling the girls train.

Charlie from Nassau Hobbies just posted a new Lionel shipping thread... And the PE coaches (regular and gold) are on the list to be shipped from Lionel NC next week. So the Christmas rush of deliveries is on!!!
David
(I hear from Charlie the obs and coaches are 3-4 weeks out-one of those jit deliveries.)
Not true, they are shipping to us this week. Charlie...

No Art, I thing the gold would clash with the pastels.
Very impressive--the gold satin look is much more impressive than the shiny gold I anticipated.
If they'd done a run of the PE starter sets in this finish, I would have bought that in a heartbeat.
Y'know. It looks oddly prototypical...
I'm not big on the Polar Express, but the gold Berk does look pretty nice. I think it looks better painted than if it were plated.

UPS guy just arrived. Thanks Charles Ro for excellent service. This engine as Emile has said is a stunner.

My new PE should be here by Friday! I went for the black one though. The gold looks a lot better than the pictures at York though!
That does look great. Very glad to see they fixed the blue lettering.
Regarding the 6-axle tender, is this a scale locomotive, or is it otherwise the same size as the Berk in the set?
Can't wait to see it with the passenger cars. Congratulations!

I must say I had zero interest in this when it was announced. Partly due to zero finances available. That being said, DANG! That looks amazing. i wonder if in 75 years or so my grandkids and great grandkids will be watching it run in a museum with a full compliment of coaches. This could easily be the next "Blue Comet" of collectible IMO.
