Wow thank you for the pictures! Mines on route to the frozen tundra that is Minnesota. Are the side rods the standard color and materials of Other steam?
This gold beauty arrived today from Charles Ro Supply... it will be operating on the Whippany (NJ) Railway Museum O gauge layout during our annual "Santa Claus Special" excursions. www.WhippanyRailwayMuseum.net
Engine looks great leading the original PM 1225 Berkshire, also in Polar Express lettering !

bigcrabcake,
how about posting your Christmas polar express video.
Thanks,
dave
Gorgeous looking!!!!
Enjoy!!!!!!
Absolutely stunning. Nothing should be judged when lit under the harsh fluorescent lights of York. People don't look good under them and neither do trains. And Lionel would not approve a production run unless they were happy with it. I think we all kind of rushed to judgement a bit.
This train would be an absolutely showpiece on the wall when not being run. Just a beautiful train. Congrats to those who got one.
Emile,
Thanks for posting those great pictures. It looks much better than I expected. As others have said, the details really pop. Looks beautiful. I hope you (and others who have purchased one) enjoy running them.
I have the black version from the first run...now I have cow-catcher envy
Does the whistle sound like the one in the PE movie? I'd love to see a video of this beauty!
Simply Beyond Words! Congratulations on Your Choice of This Beautiful Locomotive.
its A Triple WOW-WOW-WOW! Happy Thanksgiving!
Does anybody have Santa's email address???

Good Luck!
You know, I think it's interesting how this gold berkshire looks like it was taken straight off the back of the golden Polar Express tickets in the film, I wonder if that was the idea behind the gold paint, or if it's just a coincidence...in any case, it looks absolutely incredible!

While I usually would not take notice of a locomotive painted like this.....I really like it!!

Wow, its awesome cant wait to get mine.
Wow, its awesome cant wait to get mine.
Love it!! Thanks for sharing!! I want mine now!!!..lol I don't think Charles Ro shipped mine yet because I didn't see a charge yet on my card I'm going to give them a call tomorrow to check status of my order.
Matt:
You will love it when it arrives. This is a home run way out of the ballpark.

Brian, I'm excited to get mine as it sounds like it's sure is going to be real hit for my layout. I spoke with Charlie Ro today and they said the only thing that shipped today is one of the passenger cars and he said the rest of the cars are due December 10th and the 1225 will maybe arrive at Charlie Ro next week because they didn't get a full shipment this week so that's why some of you got your 1225's already I just put my order in last week so that's why I'm last on the list to get mine.
Thanks to everyone's advice, I went with 2 couches, observation car, and I was able to find an abandoned toy car. I just need to find a combo car to complete my order for this year
If anyone is looking for the abandoned toy car that was not in this years catalog but would like one to go with there PE fleet "Just Trains" has 3 more left. I'm looking for the combo car if anyone knows where I could find one that would be great...unless they haven't even shipped yet from Lionel this year?

That really looks cool...wow.
It was amazing how many were disappointed when they saw it at York as depicted in this thread.

But yet most in this thread are very happy with it. I still like it.
"And Lionel would not approve a production run unless they were happy with it."
This Gold Polar Express was produced by the same group as the California Zephyr?
Guess I am in for one, and the 2 cars, I hope more cars will come later

I would not count on it, Chris. According to Matt Ashba at York, you better get the quality you want now as they will not be offered again.
I got the three of the two cars offered (2 coach and 1 observation) but would be nice to have a variety of them like the non gold one has
Chris, after talking to Matt I upped my order of Gold coaches. If you stay with three, it may be on the light side. I would recommend getting at least two more coaches to make it look respectable.
I agree, Carl. Hopefully, the Gold PE coaches will arrive next week.
It's becoming extremely difficult to stop myself from buying this. That is all. I just need to step away from this thread and put it out of my mind.
While we are at it, how about the "original" P/E before it was the P/E.
Wow! What a Beauty!!!
I like this version, its not a gold plated emblem that hurts the eyes to look at. The finish resembles more of a brass engine look. Nice Lionel.
