...and listened to BNSF and UP Road frequencies, Yard frequencies, and Dispatcher frequencies.

(Them lady dispatchers sure have nice voices!)

With my outside UHF scanner antenna, I can grab all the traffic in the Barstow Subdivision, the Hodge Subdivision, and the San Bernardino Subdivision.
