I look forward to seeing these as well! Quite interested in a purchase of a pennsy model!
I'm going to go with the Pennsy also. But seriously thinking of the MTH version but have to consider the WBB will be available for at least $200.00 less.
Does anyone think the 45-tonner side-rod option might become available, or will that be up to the kitbashers?

Someone please refresh my memory. Are these expected to be 1:48 offerings?
Martin, these are indeed to be 1/4" scale and not like the original Lionel models...As Gene has just mentioned, MTH will also be bringing one out as well, at a much higher price of course! I only run in conventional mode, so I am not looking for all the bells and whistles......

The MTH will be better for switching with the proto couplers. Die cast cab better sounds. The Lionel version was actually a GE 80 ton switcher. Just google ge 80 ton and pics will come up. I think the 44 tonner was developed to eliminate the fireman due to union contracts? I read it in one of my books not sure the exact details.
Not sure where WbB brings in their product in (which port) but the work slow down may affect delivery. They are back at work but reports say 3 months to get caught up. Could affect all deliverys.
