picked up about 60 total pieces of this yesterday. One bundle was still in the original wrap so I could tell who made it. My question is when? Obviously post war.

Since the tops are bent inward, is the fence supposed to mimic a security fence?
The made in Germany US zone should narrow down the time frame.
"Zoo Fencing" 
Toys made in the American controlled zone of Germany after WW2 had to have the "made in US zone" marking starting in 1945. In 1949 this was ended, but still the stamps were used by some firms till 1955. Hausser restarted production after WW2 in 1947, so these fences might be from 1947-1955. Hausser is known for their figures (of all sorts) under the name Elastolin. The figures included all kinds of zoo animals and the text on the wrapping "menagerie gitter" means zoo fencing.
