I fuse both track power and accessory power. Note the fuse blocks installed. Fuses are as small as practical. Track power usually 7.5 amps and accessory 3 amps. You may want to consider even smaller amperage fuses.

There are two different accessory voltages used on my layout Track voltage (18 volts, used mostly for Atlas switch motors) and a lower 12 volt accessory power (everything else). I used 14ga solid wire to link the fuse blocks together on the right side, you can note a break in the looping bare 14ga which indicates the two different voltage blocks.
