Okay, I have seen references to "heat shrink" and from the context it would appear that I would use this where I would normally use black electrical tape.  I have the below link which I think is what you are talking about.  How does one use it?  I assume it comes in a tube and you slide it over the electrical wire you want to protect, but then what kind of heat do you apply to make it shrink?  Also any hints or tips for using it?  Pros or cons over electrical tape?  Thanks!

Hello John,

 

In the below photo from my control panel you can see the black covering for the LED leads and the attached resistor and wires. That is heat shrink tubing.  You can see the form of the resistor under the tubing for the yellow wire on the right.

I also use a Bic type lighter, as David does, but I use the fireplace lighters with the long neck in case I want to get into tight places.
