I bought Atlas 21 century tracks (first time ever) to built a train table for my sons.  it is 5x9 layout with right now an O-54 oval.  I connected the track together last night and note that there were gaps between tracks where the join is.  some gap as big as 1/16" some small and some are smooth seamlessly butt ended.  is the gap consider normal ?  this drive me crazy for such a gap.  I tried to push the rail so it can butt-end with the other rail however, I was fail to do so.  I think the rail is molded into the plastic.

any suggestion on how to bridge the gap or smooth that gap transistion?

thanks

Olivier

Oliver,

The rail is not moulded into the ties of AtlasO track, but is held in place because of the way the ties are moulded. Due to this set-up, the rail on occassion can slip out of place. This sounds like what has happened to your rail. It has been my experience from using AtlasO track that I do not have gaps between the ends of rail unless a rail has slipped. Once you have located the offending rail, tap it back into place. You do not need to use a lot of force.

A gap of 1/16" will not affect operation of your train.
