You have lots of choices for different "people" bridges.  Here are mine.

Your clearances will probably determine what type you use.

This 2 Track Atlas Truss Bridge is on my main lines.

This single track Atlas Truss Bridge still needs it's guard railing.

This Lift Out bridge is shown upside down with protective wiring.

This Swing bridge is used for lack of overhead clearance.

What appears to be a cylinder that holds the bridge open/raised - is it the same type as is used to keep car trunks open in some cars? What brand/model is it, and how well has it worked out for you?
