rattler21: Thank you for your reply.  In a nutshell, I want to run 2-trains.  For now, one conventional (a post war nostalgia play); second, a new digital engine (likely LionChief).  All switches should be remote/command (prepping for eventual all digital layout).  Digital is the future especially for the younger set (my grandson). Replicas of existing plans are acceptable so long as they are designed with AnyRail and fit the bill. On3 would likely not be a consideration at this time.  Love the idea of packing a 2-train design into a small, compact layout.

This fellow has another thread started complaining about Ken Hoganson's layout book and lack of specifics about track pieces and locations.  I believe he plans to run in 3-rail, but doesn't like the limitations of 4x8 space.  Rather than ask for custom design, suggest you read products like Track Planning for Realistic Operations, 101 Trackplans, etc. or just search the web for "4x8 O Gauge Trackplans.  Lots of info out there!

No complaints, in fact, liked it and recommend the book. It falls short in detail which would allow replication, it's that the point?  Nevertheless, thank you for your recommendation. Happy railroading!

Have endlessly searched the www for plans, but have found nothing of interest. I'll check out your other recommendation. Thank you for replying.

Have you visited Thor Trains?  You should be able to find something you like there.  Here's a link:

John: Thank you for replying. I'll check this out. Meanwhile, believe it or not, I have managed to replicate one of Ken Hoganson's designs - Cisco RailRoad. What's not to like? Two-train operation for conventional and digital operation, long runs, some industry switches all on a 4x8 compact layout. BestCisco_RR_Ken_Hoganson
