I am considering building a new hi Rail layout to complement and eventually connect to my tin plate layout.  I have been fooling with plans for a few weeks but seem to lack inspiration.  Below are two possible plans and any comments would be appreciated.

home extension 7 x 20

home extensio 9 x 20 -2

The first plan is two level with the main body being 7 x 20 using 0-63 and 0-54 curves. The extension is 14' There is a 2' aisle at the top and a 3' aisle at the bottom to allow for bringing in new water heaters, furnace, etc.  The curved track on the right side could actually be extended  a few feet to go through the wall and provide hidden track.  The two levels satisfy some scenic ideas I have such as having the upper level cross the lower level with a nice bridge.  It also provide some space to put in a real town.  Overall, however, it seems a little boring.

The second plan is 9 x 34.  I really like the yard area and while I can change elevations I don't really get the two levels I was hoping for. The walk in design makes it easy to build and maintain.

Any improvements?

Thanks

Al
