Tiffany, according to the MTH website overall they are 3 17/16" high. To me, that equates to 4 1/16". Strange. So on the rail it should be a little less than that (less the height between the bottom of the wheel flange and the wheel tread).

I just measured mine and from the rail is 3-15/16". They are quite a bit smaller than scale but remember,these are high cubes so they will be taller than regular cars. I have the Southern version and it is one of the best looking Railking cars I have seen. I have read that they were originally built to be able to stack three appliance boxes high,but I believe that most are now used in paper service(carrying the large rolls of paper that newspapers are printed on).
