Just something I thought that I would point out.

Time and time again, I see pictures of farm layouts, where all of the buildings, people, fences, scenery, etc. are painted in realistic flat colors.  But then, plopped down in the fields and pens, are horses and other farm animals, made of plastic, that have a bright glossy plastic finish on them.  And then, . . . I shake my head.

Having lived by choice in rural areas for a great portion of my life, I can attest to the fact that farm animals are not bright and glossy.  My horses, cattle and goats were anything but.

So, when you take the last step on that farm scene, which is placing the animals on the layout, paint them in flats first.   It won't hurt them.   :-)
