i am not new to model trains but i am still in the beginning stages and have lots of questions

i was listening to notch 6 about the 2017 catalog and there are several sets i am interested in

3 of them are hobby shop exclusives - only available at brick and mortar hobby shops

what do they mean by brick and mortar ?

when do the sets ship out and become available?

i'm turning 22 in june and wonder if any of the 2017 sets will be ready around my birthday

the only train selling stores i have experience with are Dale's train station, tiny tim's and hobby lobby

and with my autism i tend to hyper focus  and obsess on things i see in the catalog and kinda get upset and discouraged if i can't obtain and play with a particular train i want

Brick and mortar is an actual store, not an online only retailer. As Dave says above, one you can walk into.

When the catalog comes out you can get the product numbers of the sets you like and check Lionel's shipping schedule to see an estimated date of release. Sometimes it takes then a while to get all the new items on the list so be patient.

June may be a little early for any 2017 catalog items, but you never know? Again, Lionel's shipping schedule will give an estimate.

One word of caution, the scheduled ship dates are usually delayed by a few months. Most items are usually not on time. If you want something you can get your hands on right away you are better off going to a trains store and trying to find something you like that they have in stock.
