I found these at a flee market.  They have pre war Marx trucks and seem to be made out of popsicle sticks.  They have nice detail and I would figure old.  Does anyone know if they were totally scratchbuilt or was there a kit with directions.??  I have 4 more boxcars another gondola and another caboose.  Those have loose parts that I have to repair, but they are all there. (winter project) Any help would be appreciated. I am also taking them to York to find out there.

I, too, have built a lot of old car kits, and flipped through old catalogs, and I would

say they were home made....you can pin them down as constructed after 1941 which is when I think Marx introduced the tilt fork coupler.  While they are crude, a lot of stuff cruder was made (including by me as a kid), and I have seen worse offered on tables at trains shows.  Marx only made 21 versions (not counting variations of same car) of "3/16" freight cars with that coupler, and no ore car, so somebody was looking for more variety. (the stock car looks like it could be a kit model)
