Hook up tender | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I want to connect a 4 wire tender 38000-x1 to a 4 wire engine. two of the engine wires are from a smoke cam activated switch and the other two are from the solid state reverse unit. The tender does not have a chug activator or an outside rail ground pick up just a center rail. I tried putting color to color but that did not work, but did give me sound of whistle and stationary no chug? any guidance would be appreciated.

Just because you have four wires on each end, that doesn't mean they have similar functions! Without a LOT more information about both the locomotive and the tender, it's impossible to know what you have, but you're certainly risking releasing the magic smoke from something just randomly connecting wires! eek
