I was recently moving switches and accidentally clipped a ground wire for a switch motor that I had not intended to mess with. Once I had the turnouts in their new locations I attempted to program them with new addresses and none of them would accept the command input. In addition, other odd things were happening, switches were responding to multiple numbers and others refused to respond at all.
How come clipping the ground and fouling that switch motor causes so many problems with the other motors. I would like to understand how the legacy base communicates with the motors and how the motors talks back with the base.
