I had you guys in mind while I was putting this together, so I am posting it here first.

I felt no need to make the video any longer by adding how to clean the rail, but it's simple.

After you are completely done ballasting and more dusting, run 220+ grit sandpaper over it and then use a "bright boy" cleaning block. That's it!

Enjoy the video and let me know if you have any questions.

PS: I am registered and I will be at the TCA York Meet with all my bags of tricks!

I have no clue where my booth will be as of yet, but I am ready for some fun.

I'll try to stay out of trouble.

That's a good point Ray, it does indeed leave scratches which promote future oxidation.

Ray - A rag with thinner on it can not be controlled. You'd end up removing a lot more than what is on the top of the rails.

Bob - 220+ grit sandpaper followed up by a bright boy block or 400 git by itself is hardly going to leave much in the way of scratches. This is also what I sand clear coats with on some of my photography Art products (minus the bright boy).

I have modules that are 20+ years old that have been in and out of the garage in extreme temps. Clean them off with a bright boy and never had a problem.

Maybe with brass track or something like that.

Chalks do not come off like people think, especially something that isn't a flat hard surface. Plus, you are re-applying some dust after you ballast.

All I can say is try it for yourself.

Excellent video, Joey!  Educational, fun, and entertaining.  You make everything look so darn easy!  Can't get much better than that.

I'm delighted that you're going to be at York, and I'm looking forward to getting together with you.

By the way folks:  Joey also is planning to be with us at our "Thursday at Tuesday's" gathering, so be sure to attend if you would like to meet and chat with him (after he dines as my dinner guest).
