Does it have the tether, or wireless drawbar? If it is the wireless drawbar, are you using the short one, or the long one?

My Imperial Northern wont run on Realtrax 042 curves with the short drawbar, without derailing the tender. It could be a short drawbar issue, that is causing a different problem than mine does, also I had serious trouble with the drawbar not staying seated, which would cause it to stop, it had to go back to MTH for that fix.

A couple of things......I have the same engine and had to replace the drawbar (which I think was 30mm) with the 45mm. The one that came with it was causing problems even on my 054 curves (and....it wasn't "clicking in" tightly).    Also, I have 027 1122 switches that I've converted to fixed voltage use and a capacitor system for the buzz. Some of my MTH engines will do what you describe when they hit certain switches. I am thinking it's the anti-derail pulse that is stopping them (3 of my engines on certain switches). When I'm running those engines, I cut the power to those switches and they go right through.

Oh....one other thing. If you order the longer drawbar (or even the set of three), they are not sent with the grounding wire nor the plastic cap. Makes no sense.

Its the wireless type.I  have 054 curves.I just checked the other drawbar is for 031.So that means I have the long one on the locomotive.I am starting to miss the tether.Oh thank for your reply.

I have a similar problem with an MTH northern steam engine, a Reading T-1, with a 4-8-4 wheel set up, it has major issues with Gargraves switches. I am thinking of going to Ross Custom switches for the 042 switch I need.

It might be the design of the Gargraves switch that hinders MTH steam engines. If I run it on regular(post war style) 042 track and switches no problems.
