Sorry for taking so long. But when I saw this it had me hooked good. This is when PBS had it going on.The boxcars were tyco horn hooks.Alway liked they used real train whistles for this."I love working with trains.Well I see you around my ride is here.HEY!WAIT!!STOP!!"

I sure don't miss that early h.o. lurchy operation and horn hook couplers.

It's a wonder h.o. ever became as popular as it is lol!

They were pushing and pulling the train off camera in the video.  The Mantua/Tyco Pacific used had no motor, as witnessed by the empty gap under the boiler. The motor would be visible between the second and third drivers.

Additionally, the crosshead guide-valve gear hanger was off its mounting and flopping around.

Hey, at least they got the sound effects right.

Yes, likely(I didn't look) He WAS part of the Electric Company. He was the actor that played their Spiderman too.

E.Co. seemed more aimed at the "cooler"; older kids than Seaseme Street was. Not that I ever balked at watching any kid shows.(Muppets rule; I can't help myself. 😎)

There are actually a lot of good teaching shows today imo. Especially online.

Maybe not up to S.St./E.Co. excellence for teaching but I watched two hours of Choo Choo Bob today on Qubo(?) today 😁

(and near me,free broadcast tv has 50+ channels now... I was stunned when I did a fresh channel scan that added nearly 30 new stations 😯)(crappy weather too)

I could "never" get the ho kids(or adults) to run theirs. The few times I did it was a PITA vs fun like my Lionels; BUT those were mostly    Tyco and I knew high end brass ho was better than that, but very pricey too, and overall; I'd rather have more of the cheaper end of O and still have "no issues".

I did try some ho from this century though. Night and day better imo.

But I hate the coupling operation even today (looks much more "knuckleish" but same  principle, it has that tendency to uncouple if slack in the train cars happens (slow too fast then resuming speed; going slow down a grade then leveling out; etc))
