Could use a bit more info.

Remove all of the cars and loco from the track.  Now power up the track.  If you still get a short it's something wrong with the track.

What type of track are you using ?   Check each piece of track for a short.  It's uncommon but a single section of track could have a short.  For instance, tubular track has cardboard insulators under the center rail.  One of them may have worked itself loose or out of place causing the metal track tie to touch the center rail.

Also, check your wiring.  Are the two wires touching at the transformer or at the locos or track connection.

I'm not familiar with Fastback or any of the other newer types of track, so I cannot be much help in that case.

ok thankyou i have fast track and i will check all peices thanks!

Fastrack is bad sometimes, because the little clamps (or crimps) underneath each piece are not pressed down hard enough to make good contact.  Ray (at House of Trains, Service Center # 749)  solders a small piece of wire across the underside pieces of metal to ensure good contact.  But be careful you don't melt the plastic !
