I love the 3376 Giraffe car (and, the 3386 Giraffe Car which came exclusively in uncataloged sets). I am not a fan of trying to get the giraffes to work with the tell-tale pole....especially with Ross track, roadbed and ballast. But, a string of giraffes running along the track is a crowd-pleaser at shows.
Here are a few pictures of my 7 car "giraffe train" from September.....
I wanted to increase the train a little bit, so I decided to target giraffe cars $35 or less at York. I figured that at this price, the cars would be incomplete and ready for my "re-design".
Well, 3 Bandit Meets, the Fairgrounds Pre-Show and all the York Halls later, I found that I had acquired a few.......Many of them were $10 or less. I figured that my average price was between $15-20......
The 1st thing was to bathe them. I suspect that none of these guys had been bathed since they left Hillside, NJ circa 1960-66.......They just loved the water!
Then, one of the guys needed neurosurgery......I performed my 1st cervical fusion!
The next picture is from the recovery room. He is propped up waiting for the CA glue to dry.....
Next, the giraffes are fixed in place and reassembled......
....and, away we go!
The passengers on the New Haven pasenger train leaving the Bronx, got a real treat watching the train head for the Bronx Zoo!
