George (Laz) was a great guy, and I still can't believe he's gone. A few years ago, we had the good fortune of George and Pam coming to visit us at our home while they were on their summer New England vacation. It was a great evening of talking trains and sharing many laughs. George always made a point to stop and talk with me at my table every 6 months at York, which was always a treat, and we kept in touch by email and the occasional phone call. About 2 years ago, I helped George find a Lionel Lines "Hillside" station sounds diner, which he "needed" to complete his Lionel "50th Anniversary" train. We had a lot of fun during those discussions, during one of which he referred to me as his "enabler." He was definitely one of a kind.
RIP George, you are missed by many.
John
So sorry to read this. Condolences and prayers to George’s wife and family. I always looked forward to seeing his Whistle Stop Wednesday posts and he will be missed by his OGR Forum friends.
George has been missed since he was unable to continue posting… and now his journey is done. During the last year or so Paula and I have often remarked how much we miss reading his Wednesday column and we still do.
Pam we will continue to remember you in our prayers.
Thank you, John and Marty for the Memorial Membership for George. I agree with Bill he has been missed since he stopped posting. He made trains more enjoyable for me.
I am sorry to learn of George's passing. I had been wondering where he has been, since he was the last one to post a comment to a thread I have saved in my inbox.
RIP Laz.
Prayers for Laz and his family and friends.
I remember him on the forums going back to the year 2000. I think he was on the CTT Forum too, specifically the coffee pot thread.
So sorry to hear this. I’ve always enjoyed reading his posts and contributions to the forum. Deepest condolences to his family.
My condolences to George's family and friends. I always enjoyed reading his posts even though I never had the good fortune to meet him.
