I just began a project to modify and restore to running condition at least 1 of 3 Industrial Rail trolley cars I have on the deadline track at the car-barn. Since there is no assembly diagrams and electronics functional information available for the Industrial Rail trolley car, I will document & share step by step what I do to disassemble and modify these cars. Attached is my project description and disassembly instructions. If anyone has some functional info to contribute, please share it in this post.

Interesting project! Wish I had your info a few years back. I have several IR trolleys, and my first broke down after a year or so, requiring the heroic efforts of the MarxMotorMan, Bob Testa, to transplant a replacement motor and/or gearing to get it running again. It has run flawlessly since then on my el line:

Hi Boomer! I do not posses a significant knowledge of electronics, but I think the electronic E-Unit is the combination of the HEF4011B NAND IC that does switching via "and or logic," & the HEF4027BP Flip-Flop IC. If my guess is correct, there are 2 ways of reversing the trolley. One is the bump-&-go mechanical method that employs the micro-switches, and the other is via the electronic flip-flop IC. I will edit my project description if the above guess is found to be right by somebody with smarts in electronics. Boomer, thanks for making me aware of the electronic E-Unit.

When someone finds a brass spur gear that fits the axle (and is the same diameter and pitch as the original - so it will fit the motor/ axle spacing) please list it!  And a source.

Chances are that a SET - matching pinion and spur with the right ID for the axle (spur) and the motor shaft (pinion)-  would be the best solution.  But there are a lot of variables- pitch, shaft and pinion diameter,  post it please!  I imagine that among the slot car, and the train Worlds, there IS something.

Mine are on a wing and a prayer.  The spurs "technical term" - are buggered and then are held in place by CA!!
