I meant to post this last night, after a goose chase, for me, to a well advertised toy museum closing sale's preview. Today and tomorrow at
the Lebanon, Ind. 4H Fairgrounds just off I-65 on the way to Chicago,
there is a large (two big buildings) auction of toys, railroadiana and vintage
cars. While you usually expect pristine toys out of a museum, that is
not what the room was full of. There were some, but much seemed to be
"as found" from a yard sale. There were some trains, but not many..Unique
seemed to be most in abundance but there were a few Standard gauge passenger cars, some common Marx, and some Lionel and Flyer that looked common to me. If you are in the area or a couple of hours away, you might venture over there for a tour. The one room was mostly full of, though, other kinds of toys.
This was presented by a well known eastern Pa. auction house, so I am wondering if the "good stuff" wasn't held out for a later auction over there.
But, hey, they might have what you are looking for...depending on what you
are into. Tons of stuff there.....if you think YOU are a packrat, go take a look
at the nest of a real one.
