Info. on K-Line's Aluminum 15" Empire State Express Passenger Car Sets

 

I saw a recent posting (by PC9850) about the 21” cars, which was very informative.  Liked some of the suggestions for  pick-up roller problems, finger prints and their solution.  I own a couple of sets of the 15” cars, purchased when I belonged to the K-Line Collectors Club.  Here are the 3 sets I own and can verify for those of you who have or are looking for them that this information is verified and correct;

I have not seen this set but from I hear, they are exactly the same as the original K-line cars, and from the same molds, just made by Lionel when they bought out/took over K-Line (a Sad day, look what they did with K-line)

 

As you can see by the above, there was a lot of overlap in the PACs. They always had the Theodore Roosevelt” observation car in the 4 & 6 PACs.  The“Martin Van Buren” baggage car & “Hamilton Fish” coach car are the only 2 I am missing.  IF anyone comes across either of them or has them for sale (even if it’s in one of the PACs above, please contact me.

 

Soooooo, if you are looking for or are collecting all 13 cars, you will have to buy a couple of sets that will give you duplicates.  Not a bad duplicates to have though.

 Thank You for the thread on the 15" K Line ESE cars, it was very informative for me.

I have the K line ESE locomotive with TMCC and Railsounds, and am waiting  for the K4670A 4 car set to arrive.  Do you have any duplicates not in that set, that you might be interested in selling?

 

 With all the sets you have, I would guess that you also have the Locomotive as well? My Locomotive loses the chugging after running, sometimes more quickly than others. Strangley, the chugging usually lasts longer in reverse, before dropping out, than it does moving forward, but, will usually drop out in reverse eventually as well. Normally after stopping(and possibly after cycling the power on/off, I havent thought to pay attention to that until now) the chugging will return, and then drop out again. The back ground sounds still operate, as well as the whistle and bell, even after losing the chugging.

 

 Have you had, or heard of this issue before? is it a sensor out of adjustment, a bad board, or somethingelse maybe?

 

Btw, this is in conventional operation, I don't have a permanet layout yet, and though I have TMCC/Legacy, I haven't hooked those up yet to see if, the issue persists in command as well as conventional operation.
