IR contoller hookup for Mainline dwarf signal

Phil are you running the IR off track power or acc power. You hook  the two black wires together put in ACC ground then red wire in NO and green wire NC.

Yes off track power. I have done as you suggested and no joy. The only time I can get a bulb to light up is to put a wire in ACC power. I have switched the wires around so many different ways with no luck. If I get a light on then it does not switch when I run a car in front of the sensor.

Ok Phil you need to make sure  your track power is at  least 12 to 14 volts to work right. It may be best to hook it up to acc power then hook wires up to a and u post on the IR and flip the switch on the IR from track power to acc power and to your transformer also only run ac only will not work with dc   

Track power is 18 volts constant. Fastrack hookup. 

I don't know what to tell you Phil. You may have a bad IR controller for some reason. I have several of these and not have a mins problem with them which mine are older from 2006. These new ones may have problems.   

You don't want to run the IR controller off track power. You're better off using accessory power for your signals and signal controllers as the voltage and current are more consistent.

Phil also i would not recommend running your IR on 18 volts. You could have blowed something up 12 to 14 volts plenty of power to run signals  

I just connected the 153IR to a pair of bulbs (that's all the signal is), to the NO, NC, and the two returns to one of the GND terminal.  I connected 12V to the AUX power A & U terminals, switched the switch to AUX power, and it all worked.

I believe in order to use track power, you have to use the connector on the back that extends out to the track.

Just now got it to work. Instead of hooking the two black wires into ACC GND I put them in ACC PWR and bingo, the green light came on. Then it was just a matter of tuning the sensitivity knob until the signals aspect went to green and then all was fine. 

I have eight of the IR contollers on my layout already and all work fine. I use transformer power directly for some so I can fine tune the power to the older signals with incandescent bulbs. For the rest I use track power. This particular dwarf signal seem to not heat up the bulbs on 18 volts.
