I purchased MTH's wifi interface unit in early February of this year.  I am new to the hobby and up until this weekend I was just running one large oval track on a 8x12 table top.  I am using a z1000 brick to power the track through the fixed voltage input 1 of the TIU unit.  I would run my two trains I have on the oval track using the MTH app on my iPhone linked to the MTH wifi interface without any issues.  I just recently added a second oval of track and am supplying it with power through the fixed voltage input 2 of the TIU. I am using a second z1000 to power this oval.  Upon setting up the power to the second oval of track I went in to the MTH app on my phone to run my trains.  Anytime I enter the app I always hit the refresh button in the top left corner.  This time when I did it gave me a "read time out error".  No matter what I tried it would not correct the "read time out error".  Also the trains that I have been running through theMTH app were no longer in the active list and I was unable to get them  out of the inactive list no matter what I tried.  If I unplugged the z1000 going to fixed input 2 I could run the trains on the original  oval through fixed input 1 using the MTH app, but as soon as I plugged fixed input 2 back in the same problem occurred.  I eventually gave up with the app and was able to get all my trains running on the two ovals using the DCS remote with my TIU.  I purchased 2 new trains this weekend (GG1 Pa and a Climax logging set). Along with my originals , all 4 trains were running fine on both ovals using the DCS remote.  Can any one help me with this issue.  Thanks in advance.  I used the exact same transformer set up for the DCS remote as I did when I was trying to use the app on my phone.

The DCS App must be at the same level of software as the WIU's firmware version. If not, you will typically see the same issues that you describe..

It sounds as if the version of the app is 1.1 and the firmware in your TIU is 1.0. Although it could also be the other way round, most likely what happened is that the iPhone automatically updated the app to 1.1 while the WIU's firmware is still at version 1.0.

It was in late January or early February that MTH updated all of the WIUs that they had in stock to 1.1, however, the unit you purchased from the your dealer most likely had version 1.0 firmware.

If my reading of your problem is correct, updating the WIU's firmware to version 1.1 will correct the problem.
