While I waited to move to our new house in 2010, I used RR-Track v4.02 to design my layout. I ended up with 29 versions, some of which had subversions a, b, c, etc., and I became quite proficient in the use of RR-Track. The last time I used RR-Track was about a year ago to add a small spur.

I want to add an under-the-layout staging yard, and I just realized that I have forgotten some of the RR-Track v4.02 operations. Worse yet, for some reason I cannot access the help as I used to, and when I tried to download a manual, the one that I found is for RR-Track v5.00.002, and what I want to do is different in v4.02.

What I need to do that I have forgotten:

• Join two track ends with a specifically selected cut curved track section.

I used to be able to click (I believe Ctrl-Right Click) and a small window would appear telling me the absolute distance, the X and Y axis distances, and selection boxes to allow me to select how the two track ends could be joined, followed by a second window offering various curved track options. When done, I would have a cut curved track section that fit the gap exactly, and the information included the curvature angle and the length of the cut section,

Example - Before: (Correctly cut Ø90" curve, 21.50°, fits perfectly)

Cut Curve - Correct

Example - Now: When I follow the same procedure as before, everything proceeds the same except that the result is not a cut curve section, but a full section [22.50°], which does not fit properly - it is too long and overlaps one of the track sections, even though the legend says 'cut curve'.

CutCurve - Incorrect

Is my program broken or am I not following the proper steps?

Thank you for your help.

Alex

Cut curves can be tricky. What I usually do in cases like that is use a "general curve" from flex track. Make sure under your track setup you have your flex track set for "Radius Curve". Hold the "Alt" key and press the right mouse key, dragging between two track sections, then hit "General Curve". It will drop a curve into the location with the correct arc between the sections.
