I intend on being there, but there's something in the wind recently that may force a change in plans.

I'll be there on Saturday.
I'll be there with TURNTABLES, TEST STANDS, SUPER & SUPER PLUS MOTORS & a INDEXING TRANSFER TABLE! Hope to see you there! Dave B. email: daba@chibardun.net
Been to S Fest. Bought stuff. Tomorrow; repeat.
Ben
As Ben mentioned, this fest did seem a little smaller, but it was still well attended.
One thing I noticed was there seemed to be more S-Helper Service available, several dealers had a pretty good selection. Of course, there were also great expanses of old Gilbert Flyer stretched out across the tables.
Didn't take many pictures, flash pics with a pocket camera generally don't come out too good, but here goes:
The ES44AC sample. Looks every bit as good as the SD70ACe's.
The covered hoppers are getting closer. The Rio Grande heritage photographed the best. Others present were NS heritage and Southern Pacific.
Mint cars, Sample NS heritage SD's and the telephone poles in the blister pack.
In the contest room was this very well done kitbashed Plasticville Union Station:
Along with this interesting Flybashed IC 2-10-4:
And one of the more interesting things seen (at least for me) was this 1970's scratchbuilt by the late Jim Konas Illinois Central 2-8-4.
Overall, it was a good Fest. Sorta like York, half the fun is meeting up with folk you haven't seen in a while.
I picked up some fiddly bits along with the St. Louis Fest car from 2007, an AM MKT piggy-back flat with the Campbell's Express trailer and something interesting.

Like I said in Rusty's thread: ONE of these DAYS, and S Fest will be close enough to seriously consider attending.
Since I couldn't be at the Wisconsin S Fest, I consoled myself by doing this all day...
I too saw the ES44AC and it was a beauty! Hopefully they'll do a UP release one of these days.
That PV Union Station was a beaut! So was the Milw GP20 in the contest room.
One thing I noticed, all SHS stuff was $10 higher per car than last year.
I picked up about 8 vehicles. 2 SHS hoppers and an undec AM bay window caboose which I am going to detail inside, light and paint. It will MC green on top with MC orange on sides.

In looking at the photos, it appears the ends of the roofwalks droop down a lot. Is this just a digital distortion from the camera or is the roofwalk casting really curved as it appears? If curved, is there a fix being contemplated? Sure hope they come out straight in the end. Ed L.
I wondered the very same thing. I am hopeing that it is because the car is not ocomplete and is missing some of its hardware on the sides yet.
Ben
It's because the car's are not complete. The roofwalks were loose on the samples and these things have been passed around at York, Janesville and who knows where. Plus, I think my camera's default is 35mm instead of 50mm.
I wouldn't worry about it.
Rusty
It didn't help when the name tags were printed with 10 point type!
Rusty
I would have loved to have met you. Maybe at the National in '14.
