I know that this loco is a bit obscure and that there is little info out there about its electronics but hopefully someone familiar with it can help me.
I have the SD75M conventional diesel. I have upgraded it to TMCC using TAS parts.
Here is the problem:
The headlights and ditch lights flicker while on the track and will eventually shut off.
Directional lighting works and the light in cab works normally.
The headlights, both front and rear, are LEDs. They have that bluish white color to them.
I cant tell if the ditch lights are LED or incandescent. They have a more yellowish color.
There is some sort of control board (voltage regulator?) for headlights directly under the cab roof. When I touch that part of the roof it definitely feels warm. So it seems to me that control board is getting too hot and then killing the lights. This problem must occur immediately when it receives power and causes the flickering until it just quits working.
The question is:
What could be causing this problem and how can I fix it?
