K Line Remote 712 and K Line By Lionel Remote 21438

I have several K Line operating cars that are activated with my K Line hand held remote model 712.

Will this original K Line remote unit operate the K Line By Lionel  operating cars such as the log car or do I need to purchase the KBL remote model 21438 to remotely operate these cars.

I know the K Line and KBL remotes do not operate the Williams cars.
