I originally posted this over in 3Rs, but I think it should go here for anyone considering going to Kadees.....

Well Doug (laid off sick) you have cost me a ton of time and money.  I saw your videos on kadee installation and was impressed with how much better the cars and engines looked and after seeing your tutorials I figured I could do it too!  Thanks to to Mario.  He is making 3D printed mounting pads that saved me a ton of time!  If you are thinking about go the kadee route check out LOS's videos and email Mario  mscalzo3@juno.com for pads.

 

If you are thinking about going the Kadee route, I encourage you go for it.  You will be happy with the finished product!

You said it Doug!  In addition to cutting the lobster claw off of the truck I had to grind down the backside of the Kadee draft gear box (like you demonstrated).  All you need is a bench grinder, a dremel tool, Mario's shims and a good amount of time to mount kadees on the rear of the f units.  I made my own shim for the fronts, but Mario may have one.
