All the the locomotives you see in any of the pictures posted by Mike and Marty are MTH Premier products except, the two flags CP SD40, the maroon and grey CP GP9, maroon and grey CP C630, and the Canadian Pacific MP15DC. Those units are made by Atlas O.

The first picture in this thread is a BNSF AC6000CW. In real life BNSF never had any GE AC6000CW's.

The next picture is of multiple trains, lead by various locomotives. Starting from the left a -

BN U30C

CSX narrow nose C40-8

CN SD40-3 Tunnel Motor

CP ES44AC

There is a 5th track, you can only see part of the cab and silver truck, of a Union Pacific Heritage Western Pacific SD70ACe, at the extreme right.

The last shot on this thread shows a Canadian Pacific multiple unit consist, lead by a Golden Shield attired AC4400CW, holding the no.2 position is a Golden shielded SD9043MAC, and on the rear of the consist - another AC4400CW, wearing the two flags logo.

In the photo album, besides these, and the four Atlas O models, there is a BN U30C, a Southern SD45 High Nose, a unique Union Pacific AC4400CW(in the grey livery) and a big CN SD70M-2.

The locomotives are all great O gauge models, and the manufactures can be proud of these fine products.

I like doing this type of thread for train fans, O gauge fans, so that they can see, if they don't already have these products, what is/was available...

That's one of the things that attracted me to this forum, a few years ago, it showcased the best in O.

BTW, I operate these fine models with MTH's DCS system, and I also have Lionel's TMCC added, to run my Atlas O products.

Besides speed control, having the ability to run multiple unit consists(multiple locomotives operating together, that can be placed anywhere you like... throughout the train) is probably my favorite command control feature.

Note: I have never mixed the MTH locomotives, and the Atlas units, together, in a multiple unit consist. I'm not sure if that would work... as the two different systems(DCS and TMCC) have different speed increments... It might be possible, though?

Did any of your discerning eyes notice/catch that there was no mu cables showing on my maroon and grey Atlas O GP9? The others(my 630, SD40 and my MP15DC) came equipped with the cables, installed.

The handsome GP9 came with the cables, but you have to install them, yourself. I tried, even using magnification, and I just could get those %$#^*#&^ hoses seated, except for the air... those were a wee bit bigger.

While were talking "did you notice" things... did you notice that in some of my pictures, i.e. the one with four locomotives/trains showing... that I have a textured sheet of wallpaper, as the rail yard ground cover, painted various shades of grey? I think that wallpaper was designed to mimic textured ceilings... frequently seen in homes built, years ago.

If you attach it well enough, you can vacuum it... something you might not want to do with others ground covers. It provides a dimensional appearance.

BTW, The Atlas O models have some nice lighting features that change when the locomotive changes direction. My favorite lighting feature, though, re: the Atlas O equipment, is the front ditch lights... on my CP SD40(engine number no. 6411). When the horn is activated, the ditch lights alternate flashing, on and off, but in a very realistic looking manner... with a cool slow fade effect.

In my opinion, the best looking flashing ditch lights, I've seen, on an O gauge locomotive model.

That Southern SD45 is a beast. I have one of those in HO and it's a fairly big model, I can just imagine how massive the O gauge version is!

MTH's Premier SD45, with the high short hood, is a masterpiece. An absolutely stunning model. It has a look all it's own, set up to run long hood forward.

That's the model, I would have liked to see sporting my VOX-45 livery, I designed. With brass skull and crossbones plaques mounted on the front and rear, and horns(not the sound warning kind)attached, on top of each front corner of the long hood. The whole body painted a deadly looking flat black with huge gold lettering and numbers, displaying the VOX-45 logo, printed on each side of the long hood; and to finish off the effect... there would be dim red interior lighting and ruby-red marker lights. Outfitted with a haunting horn, and maybe packing GNR's Welcome To The Jungle or AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" background sounds.

Ya... my kind of unit!

For my next score... I'm seriously considering a MTH Premier SD70ACe... from the new 2012 catalog. I really like the Union Pacific's standard livery, especially on an ACe.

I had a scale wheels version, but it had to be returned. It had a defective speaker, but what a looker... I definitely like the look of the scale wheels version, but I like operating couplers, as well.

Besides the UP version, I've got my eyes on the CAT version. That might turn out to be a great look for the ACe model. I wish I could see a straight on, front view, shot of that livery option. That would help me to... make up my mind.

I like the look of the Burlington SD24 and the EMD DEMO version, from MTH's 2011 vol.2 Premier catalog. I have a BN SD24(it's sitting behind the BN U30C, in one of my pictures, in this thread) and it's a cool looking high short hood model. A favorite of mine.



I'm thinking about that Transfer engine, as well(also in MTH's 2012 catalog).
