Kit to Add Horn to Lionel Command Tie-Jector 81445

Well done as always!  Thanks for sharing your write up of the mod!

Minor web page thing, but the title block of the html code still shows the old MTH helicopter page you probably started with when creating the new page for the tie-jector project.  (shows up on the tab when I opened the link).  Just an FYI.

Very nice upgrade!! I have the exact same Tie-Jector and work car and your upgrade looks like a great idea!! May have to add that to mine as well, especially since you have provided very nice detailed pictures and instructions and parts list. Thanks for taking the time to document and post this!!

Cool mod, sound would be great on one of these.

For the next time, you could have tapped off the serial data and backup light from the command module using one of the little Miniatronics 4-pin mini-connectors.  This would eliminate the need for the TMCC receiver.

Thank you for the information.  What command module at what point would I tap?

I'm talking about the command module in the powered unit.  Since it already has command, it also should have serial data capability.  I looked at the parts breakdown, and truthfully, this one may not have serial data, I don't see an obvious place.  This was obviously a special board just for the Tie-Jector unit.

I want to add sound to my command rotary snowplow.  I'm going to put it in the icebreaker car or the work caboose that I tow behind.  Looks like it has a similar board.  Any idea if it has a serial data port?

I don't see one in that diagram.  I looked at the rotary snowplow and it seems to have the same board.  I suggest picking up a TMCC RCDR board for the trailing car and using that to drive the sound board.

I'm re-purposing a Mini Commander 2 that fried.  Lights and serial connection still work.

That works just as well, as long as it still has serial data coming out.

Here are some pictures and a video of my crude installation.  Used electrical tape to create a tarp illusion.  Need to find a better solution. Will also tidy up things in the cabin to conceal wires and board.

By the way that is the gas sound kit from ERR/Sunset. I think it is best for a small engine like this. I read that there were Vulcan switchers with gas engines.
