Eric,  Yes the windows can be transparent, and that is what comes with the kit, clear "window glass"  I use a opaque material on many of my models, it simplifies the photos so you done look through the model.

The windows have a removable frame that is injection molded, so they are easy to paint, and then you can install the clear plastic "glass" from the inside.

I was very lucky to pick up the built, painted, and lighted "sample" of the engine house at York last month (I think it was around 12:15 on Thursday!!!). Like the picture above, it has six side sections with the bricks, but mine measures 34.5" in length. While that is exactly what I was looking for (with apologies in advance to the rivet counters, I wanted it to house my Visionline Big Boy), it does not match the dimension you quoted above. Since Eric had a concern about if it would fit on his layout, is the length of the basic kit actually 24.5"???

And I have to say, I absolutely love the completed model (signed by Alex). I don't have the requisite skills to do such a fine job on my own, so I greatly appreciate the ability to get quality buildings already built up. I have plans for a few more in the coming year.

P.S. And I got a GREAT price at York!!!

Eric, the kit builds in approximately 6" increments so you can shorten as needed.

Looks great....kinda reminds me of old AT&SF ABQ facilities....

I like it, just may need to make a spot for that.

Ohh man, that looks great. Is it possible to get a few measurements? What is the width of the stall opening? What is the width of the column between stall openings?

On the built up model I purchased, the measurements are:

• total width - 12 & 1/2 in.
• center column - 1 in.
• side columns - 1 & 1/16 in.
• openings - app. 4 & 3/4 in. give or take a smidge 

Hope this helps.

I built one of Rich's engine houses and it turned out to be one of the outstanding buildings on my layout.  Since it is modular, you can configure it to your specific needs.

Nice looking engine house Rich great job.
