Beautiful! Tell us more about making the photo... How did you engrave all those bricks? etc., etc., Clearly the genius is making that first module.

first module was made using styrene brick plate in several layers

a module is just two windows it's like DPM parts

the top of building was made with styrene plate 2mm

Great job, but am I the only one that expected to see something like this in the thread based on the title?

Where do you get styrene brick plate? What manufacturer?

 

Notice in that picture: no eye protection on anyone. Lots of people were hurt in manufacturing places like that.

Chris  - would you ever consider selling some of those molded fronts? Or is the RTV mold scrapped after your parts produced?

Well P51 this is not the main building the third one will be bigger like the photo big hall with overhead cranes, seven feet long 3 feet wide but no guns only BR locomotive lol

 

brick pattern came from a sailer at telford UK O scale show, forget the name oups

but that's not coming from Slater an another company which provide same material but there are several web sites on the net where you can find those kind of material

 

Sorry J daddy the mold are kaputt and I sell only finished products like this industry based on photos/plans or free inspiration or boats (static ones for layouts) tug barge trawlers cargo etc etc...

But you have a lot false fronts and modular system on the market to make something 

like a warehouse or manufacture. DPM are really excellent also now there are companies with laser cutting tools also

well Charlie normally no loading dock have been planned 

I consider it's only a front of the entire building also there is a foundry that hide a little bit the view of the ground floor of this one

Some people are expecting something more impressive like I said it's coming but it take times to build all details structure 

 

here's some of the machines which are ready and will be placed in the main building

I have never seen a complete model of locomotive erecting shop in this size but who knows ???

yes everything s scratcbuilt using styrene clock parts small gears and plastic scrap respecting Two lathe are running with a speed variator from transfo

I was totally blown away by the building, and then I saw the machinery that is going in the building, and then you said you scratch built all the machinery! Amazing, your skills are from another world!!

I'm speechless! And those who read my stuff know that this is a very rare occurrence. How did you get the dimensions for all that hardware? Amazing!

Christoph, I just went to your profile and went back and looked at your first post in 2013. You're the reason I'm in this hobby. When I see your craftsmanship and attention to detail I'm inspired to do more, do better, do something. I sometimes get full of myself and what I'm accomplishing. It's good to see a real master to reset my expectations. Keep contributing!

ThyssenKrupp AG One of the worlds largest manufacturers of steel. 

I believe they're headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany where I used to live while working for Henkel KGaA. Thyssen spent WWII in a German prison when he refused to go along with the Nazis.

In France during 1940 german with french collaboration governement at vichy (Laval Petain) took many of qualified workers they call that STO 

"service travail obligatoire" and send them in Ruhr working on tools machine shop to produce armaments  krupp henkel siemens messerschmitt dornier etc... I 'm not here to talk about politics that's not the goal of this forum, but only history comparing to this complex model and try to explain facts

 here's some poster of this time

In fact due to pressure  from occupants Laval exchange workers to POW 

and with the needs in Germany with Speer to produce more and more, many didn't come back 

 

 

 

 

Anyway my building is after war and produce locomotives, it's fictive impossible to realize all the complex.

The machinery on top is for the next big hall the erecting shop 

well you can found many of drawings/ documentation on the net like practical machinist forum and load old catalogs from Niles etc in PDF files I have also a catalog from a Leipzig fair in 1939 about tool machinery full of documentation and really nice drawings, In you tube you can find many of demonstrating video about lathes, I went also in Bochum Oberhausen to visit industrial museum and those kind of planner big lathe that are still functioning, I have the privilege of a personal demonstration from an old worker

However you chose to research the machine tools, it was certainly sufficient to produce some exceptional replicas. Beside all the styrene fabrication, were there any parts you machined? If so, perhaps you can post some pictures of your shop.

Chris, have you tried to make a highly detailed American Steam Locomotive yet. I would say from what I've seen of your work here, that you could surpass anyone!

Well I don't want to surpass anyone  I share my hobby with everybody here taking and give some good advices, you know when I'm looking beautiful layout like Franklin and South Manchester for example , or other models here, give me a lot of inspiration and boost me to build something
