My Lionel KW transformer always seems to have voltage at minimum throttle settings.I am using the AU and BU binding posts. All functions including whistle, direction, and circuit breaker operate normal.I have good control with the throttles but when I move the throttle to minimum and stop the train the locomotives head light is still dimly lite.Is this normal for these older transformers ?

I will have to look it up but I think you might have the wrong binding posts together as the KW has 6 posts on the back of it, I have one. You should be able to completely turn the power off to both A & B handles. The KW has different voltage settings that should be marked at the back where the terminals come out. Also the KW and post war ZW are different in how the terminals get output voltage, like A to U on the ZW will give you 6 to 21 volts but on the KW that same configuration may give you 12 volts constantly.
