Lamp Shade for Grain of Wheat bulbs

Roger, I bought that very thing many years ago at a train shop.  Whether they are still made I don't know, but it might be worth checking with a well stocked shop if you haven't already.  They were of a style that might hang over a pool table or workbench, made of green plastic, the shade 1/2" or less in diameter, with a hole in the top (neck) for the wire.  I just checked to see if I had extras I could give you, but no luck.  Hope this helps.   

Minitronics makes these, complete with bulb. They are not cheap though. I paid a little over ten bucks for 3 several years ago. I believe the price has increased significantly since. Bummer.

I have the same question. I would be very interested in what people are doing for this. I have a number of lights that just stick out there and I would like to cover over them.

A friend of mine adding lighting to a baseball stadium on his layout needed a large number of light in a cone shaped housing. He ended up using repro American Flyer smoke funnels.

I use something that is so cheap and I think it works pretty good.These are little Christmas bells the I guess are used for ornaments.I bought them from a store called Michael's it's a crafts store. The package comes with 34 bells and I think I paid 2.50 for the pack. I cut the clapper out and roughed the outside of the bell and then painted it the color I wanted. There's a little opening on the top of the bell where I slipped the blub through and then put a dab of glue to hold it in place.

I have used "speed axil nuts" that I bought at a hardware store. They are used on kid's trikes and pedal cars to hold the wheels on the axils. I think Plastistruck sells plastic shades too. If you have a bunch of old used up ballpoint pens, you can use the caps and shaft tips. Maybe spent 22 shell caseings?

Plastruct sells  various light covers. Go on line and look in the catalogue. I use code number LF-6. The covers work well for the industrial things that I build. I drill them out a with a 1/8-inch drill so the grain of wheat bulbs that I use fit in properly.
